Who Templar Knight is

Templar Knight is one of the four free base classes in Task Bar of Ragnalis, the idle auto-battler RPG from Jagernaut Games (Steam App ID 4830880, released July 30, 2026). Official Steam news describes Templar Knight as a frontline defender powered by Sigils. That identity matters in a party of three with frontline and backline seats: someone has to stand where pressure hits while Witch and Gunner delete targets from the rear.

This page stays inside known Ragnalis systems—automatic combat on the Windows taskbar, eight equipment slots per hero, nine matching items combined to the next tier, random skills on gear, offline rewards, and optional Pirate / Overlord DLC. It does not invent Task Bar Hero cube or rune folklore.

Frontline job in an idle party

Put Templar Knight where the party needs a durable front seat. In the Clear / Survive / Flex model from Party Builds, Templar Knight is usually Seat 2 (survival anchor), not the primary clearer. Your job as the player is still check-ins: equip legal gear, stack toward nine copies, and keep the client farming.

Templar Knight’s practical goals:

  • Absorb enough pressure that backline damage dealers keep casting and shooting
  • Wear Templar-eligible pieces instead of stacking class locks nobody can equip
  • Host Sigil-focused gear and skills that support frontline defense rather than novelty screenshots

Role context lives on the Tier List and the Classes hub. Pair this page with Priest when you want recovery next to a shield seat, or Witch and Gunner when you need the damage engine defined first.

Sigils without inventing extra systems

Official text frames Templar Knight around Sigils. Treat Sigils as the kit’s signature theme—the reason this class exists as a defender—not as a license to import unrelated upgrade trees from other taskbar games. If a guide starts talking about cubes, hero crafts, or market-grade runes that do not appear in Jagernaut’s Ragnalis UI, discard it. For a clean comparison, use vs Task Bar Hero.

In practice, prioritize equipment and random skill rolls that support staying alive and holding the front line while auto-combat runs. Two similarly named shields or plates are not equal if the skill rolls diverge—see Random Skills and the Items hub.

Eight slots, nine-copy tiers, and class locks

Each hero has eight equipment slots. Fill Templar Knight with pieces the tooltip actually allows. Launch complaints often mix “soft damage” with “I cannot equip this drop.” Before you vendor:

  1. Read the class restriction
  2. Ask whether Templar Knight is the seat that should wear it
  3. Count copies toward the nine-item synthesis rule in How to Stack Items and Tier Up

Use the Stack Calculator when you are deciding whether the next AFK block should finish a Templar armor line or feed a clearer weapon instead. Idle progress punishes equal mediocrity across three seats; feed the clearer first, then lock Templar Knight’s survival line.

Party partners that make sense

  • With Priest: Classic free sustain core—Templar Knight holds, Priest turns Prayer into recovery and rescue. See Priest.
  • With Witch: Templar Knight buys time for Full Cast backline damage. See Witch.
  • With Gunner: Templar Knight keeps the ranged marker alive while Gunner deletes priority targets. See Gunner.
  • With DLC: Pirate or Overlord can replace a free seat after you buy them—evaluate on Pirate & Overlord, not as a panic buy for early walls.

Plan seats in the Party Planner so you do not reshuffle every check-in.

Early progression and patch awareness

Launch days were rough. v1.0.1 reduced difficulty on stages 1-1 through 1-3 and added a temporary text size option plus a Reset button in Settings (changing character means starting over). v1.0.2 addressed chests that would not open, EXP that stopped, maps that stuck, and soft bans from overly strict anti-cheat timezone mismatches. If rewards broke after a 1.0.1 reset, the emergency note was to press Reset again. Steam Market trading remains indefinitely postponed.

If Templar Knight “does nothing” because chests or EXP froze, treat it as a client issue first: Patch Notes and Troubleshooting. If the party simply dies, return to Beat Early Waves and Early Progression.

Offline rewards exist, so short absences can still pay out—but keep expectations honest and the client updated.

First-hour Templar Knight checklist

  1. Learn menus in How to Play and keep the UI readable via Taskbar Setup.
  2. Place Templar Knight in the frontline seat of a three-hero party.
  3. Equip the strongest legal defensive pieces across the eight slots you can fill.
  4. After each check-in, stack duplicates toward nine for those lines.
  5. Confirm a clearer (often Witch or Gunner) is actually finishing waves so chests arrive.

Common mistakes

  • Building three frontliners and wondering why clear speed dies
  • Ignoring class locks and calling drops useless without reading tooltips
  • Spreading nine-copy stacks across every seat evenly
  • Buying Pirate or Overlord because Templar Knight feels soft when stacks are unfinished
  • Importing Task Bar Hero upgrade folklore into Sigil planning
  • Leaving the client closed and blaming the class for missing idle gains

Keep expectations grounded

Templar Knight is the free frontline answer Jagernaut described: a Sigil-powered defender for the taskbar battlefield. Make the seat readable, legal, and stacked. Let Witch or Gunner carry clear speed. Revisit rankings after patches instead of chasing rumor grades. Play Templar Knight as insurance for AFK time—not as a solo clearer cosplay.
